Gratitude to the Birthing Woman

"The shamanic midwife knows that at this time what is needed is the call for humbleness in order to put birth in its place again. We need a renewed honouring of those women in service to continuing the human race through their bodies. And we remember that this is not just the responsibility of women or parents.

It is the community who need to hold a bigger space for welcoming and integrating this new life in their world - and they are not doing their job.

At the time of birth birthing women are in deepest service - both to the child, as well as to you, the community. They are responsible for consciously bringing in new life who will contribute to you, their community. It is a service that they gift to the continuation of human kind.

I can think of no other role that is quite as important. It is bewildering that we we choose to negate this".
